Neilpryde Fly Wing

High lift Efficient Wing

The new Neilpryde Fly Wing Due to its highly refined LE geometry and entry shaping, the LE wing produces maximum thrust, power, and acceleration for its size. This allows riders to use a smaller wing than is typical for the conditions, resulting in greater maneuverability and easier handling. Additionally, the increased thrust and power lead to a greater range. The NeilPryde Design Center in Maui is the birthplace of the fly wing and of its  innovative designs, spearheaded by Nils Rosenblad, a renowned windsurfing sail designer and America's Cup engineer. With feedback from a global team of experts, Neilpryde  refines and perfected the Fly wing   ensuring no detail is overlooked in our pursuit of excellence.

Neil Pryde Fly Wing Features:

  •  The wing: has been rooted in using the most reliable materials, thoroughly researching the technical advancements of wingfoiling and fine-tuning all the individual components. Led by Nils Rosenblad—former NeilPryde sail designer and America's Cup foil engineer—and the entire design team, the first NeilPryde wing features several unique features and innovations.
  • Design: Many of these small, intricate design elements, which are not immediately evident, are what set the Wing apart. Through the combined effort of the engineer, sailmaker and flow expert, the Wing was designed with the goal of achieving the highest performance possible.
  • Lift coefficient: Every size of the Neilpryde Fly Wing has been carefully fine-tuned to maximize lift, thrust, and reduce drag when compared to other wings of the same size. This makes the Fly more manageable, comfortable, and efficient to fly, as well as more convenient to transport. To achieve this, we have taken inspiration from sailing, windsurfing, aircraft design, and foil design to create a truly innovative wing.
  • High Lift Coefficient Concept

Due to the highly refined LE geometry and entry shaping, each wing produces the maximum thrust (power and acceleration) for its size. This dramatically increases the range, allowing riders to use a smaller wing than is typical in each set of conditions. The result is easier handling and greater maneuverability.

    Modified delta Planform

This creates a more efficient LE shape and an elliptical spanwise lift distribution for better upwind performance and control.

    Dihedral Front Profile

The dihedral angle allows higher aspect ratios due to increased wingtip clearance. It also makes the wing very roll stable, especially when flagging.

Low Drag Wingtips with Linear Washout

The small LE diameter at the wingtips reduces drag and allows dynamic twist. This improves low end acceleration during pumping as well as control when powered up.

    Vented Strut

The large opening between the LE and the front of the fill panel (which connects the canopy to the strut) allows the pressure to equalize across the two sides of the wing. This improves overall performance and makes the wing even more stable.
