I was extremely excited to test the new Duotone Paradox SLS, a board that was clearly designed with parawing foiling in mind, but after riding it, I can confidently say its potential goes far beyond that.

This board also performs incredibly well for wing foiling, assist foiling, and modern wave foiling thanks to its very surf-oriented DNA.
I tested the 90L version, which measures 6’4” x 20.7”, and the first thing that surprised me was how compact it felt on the water. On paper it might sound relatively long, but once flying, the board feels incredibly agile, reactive, and maneuverable — much closer to riding a significantly smaller board.

The defining characteristic of the Paradox SLS is undoubtedly its weight.
This board is extremely light, and Duotone clearly focused heavily on reducing swing weight as much as possible. The result is immediately noticeable both in your hands and especially once on foil.
The feeling is honestly incredible. The board almost disappears beneath your feet. Everything feels direct, reactive, and natural. It is one of those sensations that is difficult to fully explain until you actually ride it yourself.
Of course, this lightweight construction comes with compromises. The board is not designed for heavy jumping, and there is no rear strap option. Personally, as someone who mainly focuses on free riding and wave riding, I honestly do not care at all. In fact, I would much rather have this incredibly light and responsive feeling under my feet.
The deck is completely flat and very usable from rail to rail. There are no awkward curves or strange foot positions. You can move freely across the board while always maintaining excellent control and stability.
Volume distribution is also extremely well thought out, especially in the nose area in front of the pad. This helps prevent the nose from sinking during starts and touchdowns.
The board feels intuitive immediately. You naturally understand where to position yourself, and the overall stance feels comfortable from the first session.
The deck pad itself also deserves credit: excellent grip, premium feel, and very comfortable underfoot.
Looking underneath the board, you can clearly see how much design work went into the shape.
The center section is flat to maximize acceleration and efficiency, while the nose features a subtle double concave helping with touchdowns and water release. In the tail, Duotone implemented a cutout tail design specifically intended to reduce drag and improve release.
And on the water, this absolutely works.
The Paradox accelerates extremely efficiently and pumps very easily. As soon as a gust hits, the board releases from the water almost instantly and gets onto foil incredibly quickly.
The combination of the narrow outline, moderate rocker, double concave nose, and cutout tail creates a board that feels both very efficient and extremely fast to release.
One of the most impressive features for me were the heavily pronounced bevels.
They serve two major purposes:
I tested the board in fairly significant chop conditions. I weigh around 80 kg, and with wetsuit and gear probably around 85–86 kg total, yet the 90L remained extremely stable and comfortable at all times.
Even while standing still waiting for gusts, the board never felt nervous or uncomfortable.
Once accelerating, the bevels help reduce wetted surface immediately, making takeoffs incredibly efficient.
Touchdowns are another area where the board really shines. Whether touching down sideways or more centrally, the board simply keeps gliding instead of sticking to the water. The slightly rounded rails help tremendously, allowing the board to recover very naturally and smoothly.
This honestly surprised me a lot.

In my opinion, the Paradox SLS will become a highly desirable board for modern wave foiling.
Whether you ride parawing, assist foil, or wing foil in waves, this board delivers exactly what surf-oriented riders are looking for:
What makes it especially interesting is that it allows you to ride a relatively generous volume without ever feeling like you are on a “big board.”
That means you can comfortably use smaller wings, smaller foils, and keep everything feeling more minimal, direct, and surf-like.
And honestly, that pure surfing sensation is exactly what many foilers are searching for today.
Another great feature is the extremely long foil tracks, giving you massive setup adjustability for virtually any foil configuration.
There are really only two points I would personally improve.
For many riders this will not matter at all, but riders who enjoy jumping may feel somewhat limited due to the lightweight construction and lack of rear strap option.
Personally, I would have loved to see an 80L size added between the 90L and the 75L.
For riders around 80 kg, an 80L option would probably make a lot of sense. The 75L already feels more targeted toward lighter or highly advanced riders.
That said, the 90L is so light and compact-feeling that it rides significantly smaller than its actual volume suggests.
The Duotone Paradox SLS is honestly one of the most exciting and innovative foil boards I have tested recently.
It is clearly designed for riders who want to maximize surf feeling in modern foiling disciplines. Lightweight, fast, intuitive, and incredibly maneuverable.
If your focus is wave riding, parawing, assist foil, or simply achieving the purest and most fluid wing foiling experience possible, this board absolutely deserves a serious look.
And once you ride it… it is honestly difficult to go back.
